We started Medsync because specialty pharmacies spend more time on paperwork than on patients.
Prior authorization is among the most preventable sources of treatment delays in specialty pharmacy. The typical PA workflow requires staff to manually log into payer portals, re-enter data already in the pharmacy system, make follow-up calls to check status, and track everything in spreadsheets or sticky notes. None of those steps need to be manual. We built Medsync to remove them.
Founded in Boston in 2022, Medsync is a small team of healthcare operations specialists and pharmacy workflow engineers. We design for the pharmacist who has forty scripts to process and no time to spend on hold with payers — not for the hospital IT department evaluating software.
Sofia Reyes
CEO & Co-Founder
Sofia spent seven years in healthcare operations consulting — the last four focused on pharmacy workflow optimization for regional health systems and independent specialty pharmacies across New England. She was the person brought in when dispensing throughput was falling short or PA denial rates were climbing.
Three separate audits across different pharmacies in 2021 and 2022 surfaced the same finding: staff were spending 2–3 hours per day on manual payer portal work — logging in, duplicating data from the pharmacy system, following up by phone. None of the time was clinical. None of it required a trained technician. It was just process that no one had automated yet.
She left consulting in early 2022, brought on a small technical team, and built Medsync to eliminate that manual layer entirely. The first pharmacy pilot launched in late 2023 in Massachusetts; the platform has been expanding to new states and payer connections since.
"The specialty pharmacies doing the best patient care are the ones whose teams have time to think about the patient — not the ones spending all day on hold with payers."
Small team. Deep focus.
We're a lean team at early stage — which means everyone is close to the product and close to customers.
Three things we don't compromise on
